Now Port City League (PCL) T20 in style of India's cynosure IPL: BCB approves names of 17 national cricketers for cricketing contract

Now set your sights on Port City League (PCL) in Chittagong in the smash-and-grab style of India's IPL Twent20 cricket, as Bangladesh Cricket Board gave the green signal Saturday under a package of cricketing plans.
The 6th Board of Directors Meeting of the BCB at its office at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur Saturday also approved 17 national cricketers for cricketing contract, six of them new faces on the BCB payroll.
Shortly after the meeting, BCB Director and Media Committee Chairman Mohammed Jalal Yunus informed newsmen about decisions of the meeting.
The meeting approved the names of 17 national-colour cricketers to take them under the BCB contract in different grades with national captain Mohammad Ashraful and vice-captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza top-placed in A+ Grade.
The other players have been placed under the following grades:
Grade A: Abdur Razzak, Shakib Al Hasan, Shahadat Hossain Rajib, Tamim Iqbal Khan and Mushfiqur Rahim (wicket-keeper).
Grade B: Syed Rasel and Junaed Siddique
Grade C: Mehrab Hossain Jr, Roqibul Hassan, Nazmul Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad, Naeem Islam, Imrul Kayes and Mahbubul Alam Robin.
Rookie Grade: Rubel Hossain
The Board approved allocation of ten (10) percent of national team sponsorship money to the players and five (5) percent to the welfare fund.
The BCB also decided to extend all-out cooperation to the first-ever Port City League (PCL) Twenty20 Cricket, expected to kick off in Chittagong on April 29. Itinerary of the competition will be worked out by the league organizers and the committees concerned of the BCB.
The Media Committee Chairman informed that Sri Lanka National Cricket Academy and Sri Lanka Under-19 teams will tour Bangladesh in April-May. The Board also approved the tour of Indian Ranji Trophy team to Bangladesh May 16-June 5 to play three T20 matches against the BCB XI, three one-day matches and two three-day ones against Bangladesh A team.
The meeting also decided to arrange "BCB Awards Night 2009" on June 29 or August 07 to award the cricketers (international & domestic), officials, journalists and organizers.
The BCB approved Club Cup Cricket Championship with the league champions teams of all the 64 districts to be held in late April or May this year.
In a pack of cricketing plans the meeting also decided to arrange CCDM Cup three-day tournament in a concise form outside Dhaka and Women Club Cup tournament here from April 20.
The budget of grounds and facilities committee was also approved in the meeting subject to the signing of MOU with local authorities regarding use of the grounds exclusively for cricket:
BCB approved Tk.29.17 lakh each for Barisal Divisional Stadium and Sylhet Divisional Stadium for the preparation of five centre wickets and four practice wickets at each venue and also approved Tk 30 lakh for preparation of 22 practice wickets at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, SBNCS Outer Stadium, BKSP and Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah.
The board meeting also decided to develop the T&T ground in Mohakhali, Karim Jute Mill ground in Narayanganj, Brother Union Ground in Dhaka, Golartac ground in Mirpur and Jahurul Haque Hall Ground of Dhaka University for cricket playing.
Also, the Board approved the appointment of one foreign curator, preferably from India, or any other test-playing nation, fresh appointment process for the CEO and the insurance policy for the BCB Staff.
The Media Committee Chairman also informed that the Special Committee for Infrastructural Development for the 2011 ICC CWC had met with NSC officials and suggested preparation of a revised Development Project Proposal (DPP) for the World Cup Cricket. The BCB consultant has also been advised by the committee to prepare a DPP for the Bangabandhu National Stadium and the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium.
The Committee is also preparing a presentation on the World Cup for the Prime Minister for hosting the opening gala ceremony and a number of the global cricket summit.
