Abahani-Brothers key match ended in tie under D/L method

The rain-effected key match of the Habib Group Port City League (PCL) Twenty20 Cricket between Chittagong Abahani and Chittagong Brothers Union ended in tie as per D/L Method at the MA Aziz Stadium here on Sunday.

Earlier in the day's first match, Outsider Dhaka Sports Club earned convincing seven-wicket victory over Dada Warriors of Chittagong in reduced 10-over-a-side match at the same venue.

Favoured by coin in the day's 2nd match, Brothers Union Club batted first to score a fighting total of 150 runs for 7 in stipulated 20 overs with Sri Lankan batsman Kapugedara quick-firing 22-ball 40 runs with three fours and two sixes.

Besides, national coloured opener Mehrab Hossain Jr (33), all rounder Tushar Imran (33), Sri Lankan Jehan Mubarak (20) wicket keeper Sajid Hasan (11) were the major contributors for Chittagong Brothers.

National pacer Syed Rasel picked up two wickets for 21 runs while Rabiul Islam, Enamul haque Jr, Yasin Arafat and MH Rahat took one wicket each.

In reply, Abahani Limited scored 77 for 2 in 11 overs when rains stopped the match and the tie result was declared as per D/L method.

Tournament's highest paid player cum national opener Tamim Iqbal contributed an unconquered 41 runs off 36 balls featuring four fours and one six and was adjudged man of the match.

Besides, one down Hanna Sarker scored 23 runs off 24 balls with three fours and Sri Lankan Chamara Silva made an unbeaten 7 runs off 5 balls including a boundary.

Mohammad Shahzada and Sri Lankan pacer Jehan Mubarak grabbed one wicket each conceding 6 and 21 runs respectively.
